Last week was rough. Brinley had a 48-hour virus and kind of gave up sleeping (like, at all) for a few nights and was extra clingy in the days and the big sisters were running wild, beating on each other and the house was sinking even deeper into a pit of cluttered agony and for the first time I felt myself wondering if maybe my mental state was about to be a casualty. I was losing grip and it felt bad.
I know that the catalyst for my above despair was the complete and utter lack of sleep and now that it’s been a bit more reasonable (I was only up every two hours last night…how peaceful!) I am coping much better. Still beyond exhausted, but at least like an exhausted version of myself and not the person I felt like I might have been becoming last week.
Since having our latest baby, my cooking habits have bit the dust and we’ve been living off of far too many frozen pizzas and random canned items from the pantry. But today I snapped out of it and unearthed the pots and pans and made homemade Broccoli Cheddar Soup with some warm Cheddar Chive Biscuits. A nice, stick-to-your-ribs dinner that was a hit with everyone. It felt good to get the ol’ apron on again:
and let the mangey rugrats stick their meat-hooks in the biscuit dough:
and enjoy a hearty meal with the family together.
I probably won’t sleep much tonight, but this little girlie won’t be little for long so I am going to suck it up and grin (while guzzling my requisite eight cups of daily coffee).

And not only that, you took photos of your adorable kids while doing it. Way to go!

Awesome! LOVE the pics! And yes, sleep is SO important. We don’t realize how much until we are deprived of it.
Oh, and the soup and biscuits?! YUM.

Oh my goodness, woman – you have THREE small kids!! And one has been sick for days… give yourself a huge break!! Sounds like a wonderful dinner, and it sure looks like your cute-bombs had a blast helping you with the dough… what a terrific mum you are. Hang in there – it won’t be like this forever. (It’s the mantra a repeat to myself daily. Sometimes it helps – sometimes it doesn’t. Le sigh.)
Also? Your hair is gorgeous… 😉

all that matters is that you are having an extraordinary hair day and that alone is impressive!

I can’t begin to imagine how hard it must be with 3 kids. I’m pregnant with my second and scared to death. LOL! But I must say….your hair always looks amazing…so you might feel like you are out of control, but you are rocking an awesome hairstyle while you do it!! 🙂

You just keep getting back up and making the best of it, good on ‘ya! I admire that you tell it like it is, but are also able to look on the bright side. You do have a gorgeous crew, just like their mama.
