March Break is over and I have to say that I miss the fun of it. I was working most of the time but my kids were thrilled with the cool activities and tons of playdates. My 5 year old had her fave "big girl" (an 11 year old dream!) babysitter for the week and they spent the whole time making their own super heroes. I was amazed! I sent them to Mastermind with $30 and her babysitter picked out all the stuff to make these:
Awesome or what?! Both of the girls had a blast. When they were done they wrote a book about the adventures of all of these superheroes too. Hours of entertainment right here!
It was a nice break from the routine. We saw Horton Hears a Who on Friday which got rave reviews from a 3 year old, two 5 year olds, three 9 year olds, an 11 year olds, and two moms! We all rated it an 8/10 (except for one boy who said it was a 7 or a 9…could it be he couldn’t bring himself to conform??).
Then, to top it all off, on Sunday my husband, son, and I ran in the Achilles St. Patrick’s Day 5k run/walk. It was a cold start but sunny and the best part is it was right near Steam Whistle brewery who was a sponsor. When the race was over everyone got a beer and a bowl of chili! We ate up as we enjoyed a St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Here is a pic taken just before the race:
Yes, my son is wearing a green sparkly wig AND he ran the whole race in it! Hilarious. He was one of the youngest runners there and was getting cheered on by so many others. It was such a celebratory feel and an awesome experience if you are looking to do something like this as a family.
As I am by far the slowest one of the 3 of us, my son and husband were there cheering me on as I approached the finish line which was great. My son even ran the last 100 metres with me even though he had just run 5k himself. I definitely fed off that! Once again, my 8 year old beat out both of us to finish 11th in the under 19 age category!
But before all of this we were up north skiing (where we will be again for the 4 day Easter Weekend) and I took some pictures.
Just thought I’d share…
Snow on the swingset. Beautiful.
Yes, Jen BAKES! Hard to believe but I actually made cookies from scratch with my kids. It was fun and the dough was yummy but I am such a perfectionist and was not satisfied with the cookies once baked. I’m not rockin’ the kitchen like Beck!

LOVE the crafts. And now I want to read the book, too! Congrats on the 5k and I think the wig is amazing, BTW.
