As you might have read I have been planning a event for mom entrepreneurs for a number of weeks. Last Friday it came to life. It was somewhat scary. Kind of like meeting your boyfriend’s parents. Why I felt like this I don’t know. I guess there is a certain safety in your twitter friendships. You can edit your responses if you need to, you can post your pretty picture but have a bad hair day and no one is the wiser. You can even play a friendly game of tag within a hashtag…
I am in awe of the ladies I have met through twitter. The TTW -Toronto Twitter Women (as I like to call them), are supportive, sweet and classy. Before, during after Friday’s event, the ladies had my back. Tweeting up my first mom entrepreneur event like it was their own.
Twitter is certainly like a big cocktail party. Tonight as I tweeted, my husband cleaned the kitchen and honest to god, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.
Twitter is so addictive. I go on to do a quick update and then next thing I know it is 40 minutes later. How do I stay productive? Today I called Rogers to see if I could reduce my cable bill (cause times are leaner now that I don’t have to answer to ‘The Man’) and I was pleased to see that I could get my bill down by $100 a month! Honestly though, if I had to give up my internet I think I would die a slow suffercating death.
My oldest son is not particularly fond of my blogging and tweeting. I have however tried to convince him that it is “cool” because my blogging has rewarded me with Yo Gabba Gabba Tickets!
So I just wanted to finish this post off to say that the ladies I met last Friday were as intelligent, charming and lovely as their “tweeting” alter egos!

I just started following on twitter. I am looking forward to the next event. It is definitely nerve wracking for me to say these few words; Hi I’m Jane from torontoshopoholic.com.
Though lately when I have done it people are familiar with the website and for me that is a rush.
So I find myself doing it more and more.

Thanks Carolann! I am already planning our next event. I can’t wait!
My funny (not so funny at the time) twitter story is that I got hacked and my @gtaparentcom account was sending out sex messages. I was very popular that day. Got a few date requests. Creepy. Change your twitter password often!

I have never had to introduce myself as my twitter handle before. It was surreal.
“Hi! I’m Shelagh.. errr @practicalmum”. People knew me as my twitter handle, not as, well, me. But tweeting now with the folks I met at your marketing4moms event is so much more… personal, and fun! And seeing some of those people online now is like meeting up with old friends. It is the coolest experience ever.
