I went to Shopper’s Drug Mart to buy my daughter some cough syrup. Somehow, this thing jumped into my basket while I was there.
Did I say that?
Of course not!
But…they were on sale, ya know? And: fat-free. That’s gotta count for something, right?
Oh, give it up. Deal.
Yeah. That’s what I said to myself the next day, when I divvied up the remains (at least half) of the bag amongst my kids and some of their friends, so as to get it out of my presence.
And then I ate some grapes.
Yay me!

I think you should congratulate yourself for not eating the whole thing! Dieting doesn’t mean depriving yourself completely, just making sure you don’t overdo it with the “treats”. Well done!

I love licorice too, but not the red variety. I have to eat the English black allsorts type and being Dutch, I love salted licorice. And, once I buy the bag, I have to eat it all!!! Ever consider black licorice? It’s high in fibre, and brings the points factor down!!!
I also have a theory about trying to lose weight. I crave sugars, such as those found in the junkiest candy, when I am cutting back on calories. My body may not be getting enough carbs. When I eat more carbs, I don’t care so much about the sugar.

Oooooh…I am SO jealous of Renee. Soft, fresh licorice. Yum.
Good for you, Kath. Have a few and then GET RID OF IT!

eating a half a bag of licorice is not all that bad in the whole realm of pig-outs though…not like eating a full cereal bowl of Bernard Callebaut milk chocolate chips (that are in fact intented for baking) while watching Grey’s Anatomy…oops! (maybe it is all equally sinful, but I can excuse almost any bad eating behaviour on the idea that TOMORROW is a new day/return to normal eating!!)

twizzlers are the devils food!!! fat free but HIGH in calories. and so addictive that you can’t just eat one. huge weakness of mine!

I thought you were going to reveal what you were ‘born to do’ – I don’t think it is fighting a licorice craving. Let us know but sorry if I missed it somewhere.

oh licorice is my sin! we live in Ottawa and close to the Hershey Factory in Smith Falls and amongst all that chocolate when we stop at the factory, soft, yummy red licorice is the first thing I grab!!!
coincidentally I had to slap my own hand last nite when i picked up a bag of licorice at the store trying to convince myself it was for the trick or treaters! yeah right!!!!!
