My very favourite neighbour-honestly, you can’t choose them and yet this one is perfect- came up to the cottage from the city yesterday with her daughter for lunch and a swim. They were a beautiful sight coming down the path on this hot summer day-both in little dresses and carrying a six pack. Of cupcakes.
A cupcake will not cure cancer, it will not fix a broken heart, it will not pop my father out of long term care, it will not speed up the work happening on my house, it will not take every financial worry and erase it, it will not slow down my children growing up.
But it feels like a good place to start.
Cupcakes make any event a party. You cannot look at a cupcake without feeling a little bit happy. If a cake is a cake, a cupcake is a cake in a dress. Somehow it celebrates being a girl and being a bit childlike.
A cupcake arrives like a new friend. First impression important but not critical. Is he/she appealing? Pretty/handsome with a twinkle? A spark? Is he/she putting their best foot forward? Can you see their soul? Are they sweet? Smooth? Rich and decadent? Are they all fluff and no substance? Do they look good but leave you feeling hollow?
I did not want to eat these because they looked so pretty- I had to put them in a glass cake stand with lid- and stare at them for a while.
Finally when we could not stand it anymore – we chose our favourites and gobbled them up. This was the best cupcake I have ever had. Love at first sight and bite.

The cupcakes look beautiful and if they are truly the best cupcakes ever I must have one! Where did you get them?
