The recovery continues…. I don’t want to bore you with the minutia of my complaining about my injury. I will report this:
a. I started physio and it’s awesome. It makes me feel like I’m moving towards recovery AND I get a foot massage without having to do anything in return…except slap my debit card down at the end.
b. My pain is going away. By this I mean the physical pain of the injury. The guilt of having to have people look after me and my kid…not so much.
c. I’m three weeks in with two and half months to go of the cast and let me say this – whatever poor woman at The Nail Centre who gets stuck with this foot then…well honey, it’ll be a big tip – I swear!!!!
Seriously, it’s going as well as it can. The swelling is almost non-existent and I’m hoping for a ‘way to go’ from my doctor tomorrow on that front. Will is still struggling a bit. It doesn’t help that he’s now sick again – and has gotten all of us sick. (Revisit my January blogs to see what a joy he is to be around when he’s sick). I guess it also doesn’t help that he’s two and a half. Put it this way, his new nickname is Belezebub.
What is one thing that puts a smile on my boy’s face? Watching videos of himself. Yesterday, we went through the gamut of all the videos that I have posted on YouTube of him growing up. He was laughing and carrying on – he loved it.
But then I noticed something odd. Two of his videos had over 650 views each. Listen, I loooove my kid and yes, there is the random day where I sit and watch them all – but not 650 times. Then I noticed what was similar with those two videos. He had no clothes on.
And I’m officially an idiot. I’m an idiot for thinking that who would even see these? I mean they are random, adorable videos on youtube. Two of how many billions of videos on there? But even still, obviously some random perv has been getting off looking at my kid with no clothes on…(and I just gagged again).
I’ve deleted them but I know that once something is out there – it’s out there. They are probably saved somewhere on someone’s computer and for that, I will constantly berate myself.
What a sad world we live in. So people – even though you’re all likely way less naive than me – don’t post even a topless video of your kid – someone is seeing it in a light that will make you uncomfortable.
Okay – cheerier…how about watching the video that made him laugh the most yesterday??
His running commentary? I fall down mommy – I fall down lots. Why I fall down all da time? Why mommy? Why?

OMG, that is so disturbing Sara. As much as I read about that stuff, it always seems remote. But clearly it’s not.
Love the video!

Barbara – I’m so sorry that you had to endure that. Between us – I don’t think castrating would stop the urge….but I hear you!
Christine says
Yes! Like the “facebook check-in” – basically it’s a GPS telling everyone in the world where you are. I’ve used it a few times but won’t anymore.
People know enough about me that they don’t need to know where I’m eating dinner tonight.
Carol says
Oh Sara it’s too bad that some people take advantage of our innocence. I didn’t know that my children’s images could be used in such a way.
Love the video. Trampolines are so much fun!

On the video front – and for pictures uploaded to the internet – I recently found out this news: photos and videos can have geotags attached to them. In short, this means that with the right software, individuals can pinpoint the location you took the videos/photos- which means you could be handing your address over to predators. Check out this video on youtube which explains more – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZMuKwOBsUU
There are lots of other videos that speak about this.
Scary world we live in!

I’m glad your recovery is going well. Does this put the kibosh on Montreal or cottage wine fest?
As for the YouTube….Yuck. I didn’t think of that. I think I have a video that shows some bum….I’ll take a look at the number of views.
Love this video!

oh boy. I imagine how you felt.
you are amazing to be able to deal with all and keep your sense of humour. single parent with crutches and a toddler. Honestly it is like secret training for any tough stuff life may throw at you.
keep going! xoxo

I posted youtube videos for Cuyler’s therapy practitioner of us doing the activities that she prescribed. One of them was manipulating a ball around his back in a certain pattern. I made the mistake of calling it “ball massage” without thinking of what some pervs might be googling.
I was horrified to see that it had over 200 views the next day.
LOVE the vid and glad your road to recovery is as smooth as can be!!

As an abused child by my step-father ….what you wrote just wants to make me throw up! I also had pics of my son WAYYYYY before FB. So innocently taken ’cause they were cute. I am really relieved they are not out there floating around for some perv. I am sure he is doubly grateful as he is a big shot lawyer now!
I am all for castrating the child molesters of the world!!!!!!!!!!!! Would it stop them though???????
Christina says
Can’t you set your video to private so it can only be viewed if email to someone or posted on your blog?
Jackie G says
Oh wow- that is awful! I am glad you discovered it though and were smart enough to pull the videos down.
On the health front – I am giving you a “way to go” and hopefully the doc will as well! Good luck tomorrow!
