Just One On Fridays

September 29, 2012 by Amanda

“Youth is wasted on the young.”

And first babies are wasted on new mothers.

I remember feeling so overwhelmed in caring for my first child. Her needs were relentless, I was basically clueless and the whole experience left me weary.
Then I went and had another kid. And then another. And then I really learned what weary was. It was chaos, but we made it. And now, here we are, where on three days of the week my two older girls are in school and I am, again, left with just one child to care for.
And it’s so EASY. I find myself marveling at how I ever found caring for one child so difficult, but I did. It’s all relative. As I bid farewell to the baby stage forever, I find myself savouring the time I get with just my youngest. She’s growing every day, but I don’t mind that she’s still glued to her bottle and prefers a diaper to the potty. She can have that bottle till she’s 12 for all I care.
As a birthday gift, some friends of mine chipped in for me to get my nails done at a local salon and I brought Brinley with me. She was just so adorable and she even got a miniature mani/pedi to match mine. I enjoyed every minute of sharing that little experience with her and am so thankful for these full-circle moments, being able to look back on how we’ve all grown and changed as our family blossomed.

Uch, you too are ADORABLE!! Enjoy this fleeting time… it sure does go by in a hurry, doesn’t it? Le sigh.
