Dear Auntie Cat,
I am too little to type or speak in sentences so I asked Mama to type this for me. I can’t quite say your name yet but don’t feel too bad because I also rarely say my Mama’s name either. If you look at my face light up when I hear your voice or see you then you will know how much I love you with my whole little self. You taught me how to hurl my body with abandon into your arms and I know that you are always there to catch me. I know you are my mommy’s sister and her best friend. You are much better dressed and have long shiny hair that I like to pull but you share the same laugh and the same devotion to little me.
Mama tells me that you knew I was the one the moment you saw my picture. Even though I looked a little stunned and was wearing a pink smock you said I had character and told her to immediately book the flight to meet me. I know you were the one behind the camera making bird-like noises which I really enjoyed when my Mama picked me up for the first time. The moment that we all fell in love.
Auntie, I know that you don’t like to change my stinky diapers but you are really good at it. I like it when you wave your nose and and hold your breath, it makes diaper changes way more fun. Thanks for letting me crawl all over you and drool on your pretty clothes. I love it when you hum me to sleep, I don’t mind that you don’t know the words to any lulabyes.Thank you for buying me the “I love” book which is still my very favourite one. Thank you for chasing me around the mall so Mama can have a break and feeding me breakfast sometimes so Mama can have a shower or put on deodorant. She smells a lot better those days.
Thank you for telling me how cute I am many times every day and still ooing and ahhing over everything new that I do. You make me feel really special.Next year I can tell you myself but for now please accept Mama’s translation for me. She promised to type it word for word.
