Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold is, like, my hero. He’s kind of a dick. Well, okay, he IS a dick and he’s a little bit smarmy, but he’s incredibly likable. Jeremy Piven as Jeremy Piven, though..not so much. I don’t know why that is. Because in real life he’s kind of a dick too. Well, okay, he IS a dick and is a little bit smarmy too. He’s just not likable.
Remember that whole maybe he didn’t or maybe he did have mercury poisoning, causing him to drop out of his Broadway play “Speed the Plow” in December? and then there was the whole lawsuit that is still ongoing, trying to prove whether or not Piven fabricated his entire illness? Yeah. that. I’m guessing Mr. Piven doesn’t like to be reminded of that whole fiasco.
So, leave it to Chris Kattan to bring it up. Backstage at Alexa Chung’s MTV talk show last week, Kattan greeted Piven by saying “So, what are you here to promote, your Broadway play?” The actor shot back with “Well, what are you here to promote? Mango?”
According to an insider, “After some back and forth, Jeremy said something really personal to Chris that basically attacked his career. He said ‘Whoa, man – I thought we were just fooling around here.'” and according to another source, “Jeremy slammed the green room door right in Chris’
face, and about 20 people in the hallway outside could hear him yelling
obscenities. He was furious. Chris felt really badly about the whole thing, so about 15 minutes
later he tried to approach Jeremy again to apologize, to tell him he
was just kidding and that he didn’t mean to offend in any way. But
Jeremy wasn’t having it at all. He slammed the door in Chris’ face
AGAIN.”
Geez, I would totally expect (an accept) this behavior out of Ari Gold.
But Jeremy Piven needs to lighten up!
