my apologies for not posting a hot topic friday on friday, but you see, i was busy flying to Atlanta, eating lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, hitting DSW (i got two awe.some. pairs of shoes) and the mall, where i tried on, and fell in love with, a pair of skinny jeans. so, you’ll have to forgive me. but i’ll be working overtime for you this week to make up for it 🙂

going on vacation for me is like being pregnant. i use it as an excuse to eat whatever i want. southern breakfasts. southern fried just-about-anything. desserts after EVERY meal. i swear, after we ate – a full dinner – at Goldfish, my sister and i decided that a stop for cake was necessary. so, we stopped off at a store to buy ourselves a giant chocolate cake with white buttercream icing.
see…i tell you. like being pregnant!
i guess i just figure that if i’m on vacation, i should enjoy myself. i can go back to no desserts and watching what i eat when i get home. but, while i’m there…you can rest assured knowing i’m eating better than well. mmm…cookies.
but, to give myself a wee bit of a pat on the back….i did get my ass on the treadmill on sunday morning and ran for 30 minutes. (well, i was only actually running for 18 of those 30 minutes…but suck it, i was exercising. instead of sleeping. give me a little credit here, will you?)
so, while i adjust my Augustus Gloop-y arse this morning, i have to give a shout-out to my brother in law (and NOT because he hired me to do some freelance work for him…no, not at all…)
you see this screenshot? it’s from cnn’s website…and you see that name on there? that’s my brother-in-law.
apparently, no one in Toronto heard about the Deutsche Bank fire on Saturday that killed two firefighters. but Americans were all abuzz when the building – left vacant from 9/11 – caught fire. The fire was put out, but the smoke and the chaos and the displaced people at ground zero brought back a whole lot of memories. and for my brother-in-law, who lives in a building next-door, it brought out his video camera.
(a man after my own heart)
i should bake him some cookies for his efforts. mmm…cookies…

How awesome for your brother-in-law to get a video on CNN! Way to go Joe!
I’ve been seeing chocolate chip cookie recipes all over the blogosphere lately, and it has made me crave cookies so bad. I just might cave and make some this weekend.
