If someone was to ask me what THE most surprising thing is about motherhood – I would hands down say that I never had any clue how much fun it would be. Yes, yes, there are entire portions of it that suck hugely and I knew that I’d love this peanut and think he was great, but lately, like I’d say for the last two months or so, the boy has been a blast. I enjoy spending time with him more than I ever thought possible.
Ever since I went to NYC a couple weeks ago, he’s been on a crazy vocabulary kick. Everyday is a journey of trying to figure out his new words, which to him sound perfect, and to me sound perfectly confusing until I figure out what he means.
Here he is with his review of the animals at the zoo…
But the most hilarious transformation has to be his new obsession with going to the potty.
There’s a few things that I know about Will but at the top of this list is that he will, in some way, be a performer later in life. This kid LIVES for the adoration of the masses (and no, I have no gdamn idea where that comes from).
Now that he knows he gets wild cheers, singing and dancing for a little tinkle on his potty, he’s ALL about the potty. The convo this am went like this:
Mom – are you going to go peepee on the potty?
Will – no.
Mom – are you sure you won’t?
Will – no.
Mom – if you do, we can tell Barb at school and she’ll cheer for you…
Will – running sprint to the potty – successfully pees and looks at me as if to say ‘whatcha got.’
To which I responded with our new potty song – sung to the tune of the classic Eddie Murphy hit – ‘Party All the Time’… it goes like this…’My Will likes to potty all the time, potty all the time, potty all the tiiiiimmmme.’ There was clapping, there was spinning in circles and there was dancing. Oh and Will clapped too.
What the hell am I going to do when he drops his first poop? I see a full scale production with pyrotechnics and lasers in my future. Sweeeet.

Mine our 7 and 5…and it is soooo FUN!!
BTW “potty” time never really goes out of style. To this day I am still in awe of “potty” time…it is particularly amusing when Miyah 5 wakes up in the middle of the night and drags her little bum out of her bed to the bathroom to plop her self on the toilet to make a pee…half asleep of course…she pees…sometimes a little fart and then with eyes closed drags herself back to bed!!
After carrying them around as newborns you never really think that independence will come…it AWE.SOME!!!

Btw, they get even MORE fun! My 7 and 10.5 year old are my fave people…most of the time. They are just so interesting and changing every day.

Thanks for putting that freakin song in my head. For the successful pooper, might I suggest the following:
He’s a very stinky boy
The kind you don’t bring home to mutha
He will never let your spirits down
Once you get him on the poop
He’s a super-poop, super-poop he’s super-pooper yoooow!!!
Its what will be sung at my place anyway –
