1. I look AWESOME in a visor and apron
2. I could never ACTUALLY work in a McDonald’s restaurant and I really need to smile more and appreciate the people who actually do work there because oh my god, THE STRESS!
I think I might still be wiped from my time working the French fry station, working the drive-thru, taking orders, and assembling sandwiches. So, had everyone been like those kind couples who came in and only ordered coffees and muffins, it would have been smooth sailing for me. But no, instead people felt the need to ‘have it their way’ and insisted that I, you know, do things like get their orders right. Sheesh…so demanding. Ha.
I kid, I kid. Because, seriously, that was the one thing that was super important…letting the customers customize their orders. I didn’t realize that if you wanted to have your hamburger prepared without salt and pepper, or if you wanted only half the sauce on your Big Mac, or if you wanted no butter used on your Egg McMuffin, or if you wanted McChicken sauce on your cheeseburger – they will 100% accommodate you, no questions asked (well, they might question the McChicken sauce on the burger…but they’d still allow it).
At the end of the day, here’s the thing about quality: you can make sure that you are using only the best ingredients possible – the meat, the chicken, the vegetables (and McDonald’s does). You can go above and beyond to make sure that the toys in the Happy Meals are safe, safe, safe (and they do!). You can pay attention to detail and listen to your customers and offer the menu choices that people want (and they do this too!). But if your in-store experience is not a good one, it doesn’t matter how fresh the ingredients are or how safe the toys are or how wonderful it is that you can order a salad now, your experience will be negative.
So, McDonald’s goes above and beyond to make sure that the in-store experience for you is a good one too. The best thing they’ve done to ensure this is NOT hiring yours truly to work behind the counter. Heh.

I had SUCH a hard time making the burgers & sandwiches! I was a burger making mess. I could handle handing out the food at the drive-thru, and making drinks, but other than that my multi-tasking abilities were put to shame on the McDonalds line.

My first job was at McDonald’s and it was hard! I remember that when things slowed down you weren’t allowed to take a break because “time to lean is time to clean”. Truly, I value the lessons I learned as a McDonald’s employee; hard work, focus on quality, and being a member of a team. All things I value and use today.
