i’m not sure how much i’ve told you about my mirena IUD, other than the fact that i love it. no periods. no pills to take. it’s FANTASTIC. and everything was going along swimmingly
until i read this.
now you can all go over and wish the lovely, lovely mothergoosemouse a congratulations on her (surprise!) pregnancy. i’m pretty well from the camp that if you can get pregnant with an iud that it’s meant to be. and that there’s some higher power out there that’s decided it’s your time to have another, and it’s out of your hands.
but i just don’t want that higher power making that decision for me. i’m pretty complete with the three monkeys that i’ve got…and we’ve made the decision that we’re done with this baby thing. we’re almost done with diapers and diaper bags (siyonara petunia pickle bottom). we’re almost at the point where we can send them all to the basement to play. where they are almost all in school. where we can actually go to disneyland (priorities, i know!)
so, while i’m so happy for mothergoosemouse. really, i am. i think i’ll be sending the husband to get himself a lovely little vasectomy. happy early birthday, sweetheart. (or, he can opt to give ME an early birthday present and send me for a tummy tuck/tubal ligation. it’s his choice.)
it’s the return of the flower!! yay!

oh boy so i used an iud once in the 90’s and had the heaviest longest period ever.10 days straight all day and night.i was weak from all the blood loss…and i really think that God determines how many children i’m meant to have.so i don’t sweat birth control too much.i did sent my beloved for a vasectomy and it didn’t take.the little fellas re-routed themselves.talk about having the drive to reproduce.so if you really think you need a tummy tuck then i’d go in for the tubal ligation just too be safe.

I almost got the mirena. But, I didn’t because for some reason the idea of an IUD freaked me out (the whole insertion thing scared me).
Anyway …
I think the risk with the Vasectomy is actually really similar to the mirena. And, doesn’t the mirena have progesterone (or something) as well so that you are extra safe?
Personally, when I am done having kids I think that it will be my husband’s turn because I’ve had to worry about birth control for so long. Tough call.

Let’s make it a Boys’ Night Out shall we?! :O

Can I send my husband with him? We’re done done done (we were done after two.. ahem), but he hasn’t gotten off his lazy butt to get the big V yet.
mothergoosemouse says
Yes, we’ll be having both procedures done at our house. 😉
Thanks for the congratulations and well-wishes. But like you, we are almost at the point where everyone is self-sufficient, and as much as I know I will adore this baby, I have to admit that I’m reticent to start all over again.

Wow! What a great way to get the husband to agree to you getting a tummy tuck: you get a V or I get a TL PLUS a tummy tuck. LOVE THAT! Isn’t the V, though, the same risk as the IUD (i.e., there’s still a chance you could get preggers?) Let me know, because I’m wondering what I’m going to do after this pregnancy….
