Isn’t Cannes Lovely This Time of Year???

But where the celebs are, I guess the sun always shines.  It’s been a quiet festival this year.  No probation jumping Lindsay Lohan to grab the spotlight away from the movies.

A couple big ones premiered including Pirates of the Caribbean 800 or something.  Apparently Jack Sparrow is hunting for the Fountain of Youth (yeah I guess so…he’s got to be getting up there by this point).  I’m excited to see it.  I love seeing big movies in the summer.  Come the fall, I become an Oscar potential snob, but not in the summer.  This year?  It’s Pirates and X-Men for me!

Here’s Johnny and Penelope at the photo op for the movie.  Let’s forget about him for a minute and focus our jealousy on her!  She just had a kid; she sleeps every night next to Javier Bardem AND she spent months filming with Johnny Depp.  Who cares if the movie is getting crap ass reviews.  I’ll still see it and wish I had her body.

The other big movie that showed at Cannes that I can’t wait to see is the Tree of Life.  It polarized the critics – some loved it and some are calling it a colossal flop.  It has some things going for it…ummm Brad Pitt and Sean Penn (throw in a cameo by John Cusack and I may have to move into the theatre).  Terence Malick directed it.  He’s a big shooter – i.e. he makes movies that some people call important and few people see.

Really Cannes is just a place for the young and beautiful and the old and leather bag looking peeps to frolic in the sun and on yachts with Diddy.
