As I venture into my new role here at Urban Moms, I’m feeling both excited, and like I may also be just a little bit crazy.
In any case, I’ll tell you what I’m hoping this blog and the Marketplace will look like.
As always, each week a new mom-owned business will be featured in the Marketplace. This is a fabulous way for mom entrepreneurs to gain some exposure, and a chance to learn about some amazing products and services (and get to know the women behind them).
I also hope to share with you my personal insights into being a mom and trying to start or run a business. When I started my website last year, turning it into a ‘business’ was the last thing on my mind (more to come on this in future posts). But, as is often the case, an ‘accidental entrepreneur’ was born (although I also often think I was born with the entrepreneurial bug).
Finally, as I’m also rather interested (read: obsessed) with the whole ‘Mom Entrepreneur’ phenomenon, I’m excited to share with you the latest goings-on in Mompreneur (r) land (that is not a real place, in case you’re wondering). For instance, I’ll report back to you on the upcoming official Mompreneurs conference that is taking place in Chicago this weekend. All Mompreneurs, all weekend long! (does it get any better than that?)
Thank you Kath and Jen for giving me this opportunity to meet amazing women from across Canada and write about something I think about all the time anyway!
Holly runs www.fussybaby.ca, a website for parents of fussy, colicky or ‘high-needs’ infants. In her free time, she (along with her husband) raises her 4 year old and 18 month old, in Vancouver, BC.

Hi Holly, Thanks for your fabulous story! I had a fussy first baby and didn’t know about your site– I was too busy pacing the floor with my DD.
I’m a mompreneur too, so I’ll be checking in on your blog as often as I can to get your thoughts. Best wishes to you! Sarah Kaplan, owner of Evymama- Toronto’s Only Breastfeeding Boutique.

As a mom entrepreneur myself I am DEFINITELY interested to hear your perspective and advice. If only to know that I am not alone!
Also, I had a fussy baby and wish http://www.fussybaby.ca was around then.
Welcome!
