I was a little nervous. Santa’s publicist contacted me a week ago and wanted to arrange an interview. COOL!!!! He’s on twitter I see too. Santa must be a type A personality. He must be with all the tabs he needs to keep on the “nice” and the “naughty” (I’m sure I’m teetering on both but he would neither confirm nor deny this), managing of the toy workshop and scheduling his appearances at various malls, parties and parade routes. He’s the most sought after man this time of year. Between his schedule and mine we managed to squeeze in a quick interview.
Me: How does one make it onto the “NICE” list?
Santa: Try to wear a smile everyday. Think nice things about everybody, including yourself. Be polite and remember your manners. Be helpful to others.
Me: How do you deliver toys to kids all around the world in one night?
Santa: It’s the magic of Christmas!
Me: What do you have for breakfast before the Santa Claus Parade? It’s a long one!
Santa: A big bowl of oatmeal with slices of fruit!
Me: While you’re here at the Parade, who’s managing the North Pole?
Santa: Our Chief Elf, who I affectionately call Ludwig (because he likes to play drums).
Me: What should we be on the look out for at this year’s Parade in Toronto? Santa’s picks?
Santa: The float dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Grey Cup Game being played in Toronto this year is great, as well as a replica of an original float from the ’50s.
Me: What does Santa want for Christmas?
Santa: All I want for Christmas is PEACE ON EARTH and for everyone to understand that we are all different….yet the same.
Of course, next to every wonderful man is an equally amazing woman. I also had a chance to chat with Mrs. Claus!
Me: What should kids know about Santa?
Mrs. Claus: Santa cares very deeply about all of the children in the world and loves seeing their smiles when he’s in the Parade
Me: How many cookies can he eat?
Mrs. Claus: I’m helping Santa eat healthier this year, so he is trying to eat only one or two as a snack each day in the off-season. However, he’ll still have plenty of room for all the treats on Christmas Eve!
Me: Did he like the sushi we put out for him every year at our house?
Mrs. Claus: While Santa loves indulging on sweet treats when he goes from home to home, he definitely appreciates the healthier options left out for him, including sushi – all the things in moderation!
Me: What do you and Santa do on date night?
Mrs. Claus: We love going for long walks in the North Pole to see the wildlife and gaze at the stars. There are truly amazing sites to see!
Me: What do YOU want for Christmas?
Mrs. Claus: Peace on Earth.
The 108th Annual Toronto Santa Claus Parade will be held on Sunday, November 18th starting at 12:30 pm. Please visit the website for details www.thesantaclausparade.ca
I’m still shaking from my nervousness of interviewing him! Thank you to Santa and Mrs. Claus for taking the time out of your extremely busy schedule!
What would you ask Santa?
The Parade route! See you there!
