My three year-old took this photo, so blame her for its poor angle, the one that makes me look more like a California Redwood tree trunk than a glowing pregnant lady.
The other day I was getting dressed and I caught her staring at my growing belly so I said, “Isn’t it exciting? Mommy’s tummy is getting so big!”
And she replied, “Yes! And your bum is getting so big, too!”
She sounded genuinely thrilled about that development and and I am trying my best to follow suit.
My husband and I have already begun fighting about discussing potential names for this baby and I find myself fearing for her future. We couldn’t have more opposite notions of what makes a great name and it’s so frustrating! My eldest daughter has been convinced for many months now that her name is Millie, but Steve has been quick to veto that (along with 98% of my fantastic suggestions).
If you have any perfect names that you’re willing to share, I’d love to hear them! We’re going to need all the help we can get.
Someone mentioned Elora, which really struck me as your style. And you know, for all the trouble you have coming up with names and all the suggestions you ask for, you and Steve seem to come up with the best ones all on your own.
BTW–is there a boy name you’ve been holding out on that you’d now like to share with the class?
You look seriously wonderful. I always have enjoyed your pregnancy pictures and started following Kicky Boots during your 1st pregnancy. I can’t wait for more pictures π
Here are the names I would have loved to use for a girl but, we are done with our girl Molly and a little boy Wes.
Shea (pronounced like Shay)
Shaylee
Lyra
Thalia (pronounced Tah-LEE-ah) can NN her Tallie
Shiloh (Shy-low)
Avril
i just named my new sweet daughter molly and 80% of the women we tell it to say, “oh i LOVE that name,” or, “i wish i had named my daughter that!” it’s kinda like millie, right?
I couldn’t help but notice that a lot of people voted for Carolyn or Caroline….I mean why not!! π
I also like Amelia so Avelyn can keep Millie. And I like Halle. Aravis. Evayne. Ainsley.
I have always loved Abigale, Elizabeth, Sarah, or Lily. We had a hard time choosing our daughter’s name for sure, DH has some very strong opinions about names! You will find it soon!
I just watched a Jennifer Aniston movie called ‘Love Happens’ and I really liked her name in the movie. It was Eloise. (ell-oh-ees). And she was called Ellie. It was cute.
My brother just named his daughter Emme (pronounced Emmie) which I think is quite cute.
Baby names are kind of an obsession of mine and perhaps why I think I need to have 7 kids. The girls names I am currently a little obsessed with:
Penelope
Josephine
Eloise
Scarlett
Charlotte
Adelaide
Audrey
Emilie
Kate
Caroline
Lily
Beatrix
Louise
Violet
and of course Lucille. You look great and any negative feelings you have can be blamed solely on the photographer. I have banned Charlie from taking pictures of me, he is able to capture the double chins in a way no one else can!
JUst so you know… three is the charm for me too. A few days after I commented on your last post I gave birth to baby girl number 3. We are thrilled and delighted beyond measure!
First and foremost: anyone should be so lucky as to look this beautiful pregnant!
As for names:
Analise
Ella
Selma
Olivia
Payton
Mia
Pia
Claire
Reece
We named our daughter Gwyneth-nickname-Gwynie or Wynie- but I was hoping for Lena or Luella (nickname-Lulu) best of luck!
You look lovely.
Girl’s names are a special obsession of mine, which is a little strange considering I don’t know that I’m ever having kids, and even if I am, I am certainly not having SEVENTEEN, so the seventeen girl’s names I have will most likely be put to use in various stories.
How about Marin… I don’t know how to spell it so you know how to say it. Hopefully you figure out it’s said the way it sounds the nicest hahaha
I quite like Amelie, which could fulfill Avelyn’s desire for a baby “Millie”. Or maybe Cianna (see-anna), Nova, Danica, Calyssa… best of luck!
Maisy , Kamryn, Zoey, π
How about…
Elora/Alora
Elisa/Alisa
Odessa
Maisie/Maisy
Elivea
Aeryn
Raia/Raya/Reia/Raiya
Kaiya
Tansy
Poesy
Viva
Robin/Robyn
I hope you find the *perfect* name for her, I love the names of your other two girls!
π
here are some i like: story, ruby, amelia
Let Avelyn name her! It’s her turn! π
Ok, the names I love that my husband would NEVER go for……
Stella, Penelope, Lily Kate
A few that he did like:
Kara, Rayne, Caroline, Summer, Autumn
And if we would have had a little girl, she probably would have been either – Allison or Allie.
I like Millie too. I tend toward the traditional and my DH tends toward the unusual. We haven’t really even started to discuss it. Good luck with the battle…er I mean discussions. You don’t look like a giant red wood! Such a pretty dress and pretty mama.
Ooh…everyone has such great suggestions!! The names we were going to use for our girls were Brianna and Paige. Other contenders were Lyndsey, Brynne, Audrey, Lauryn, Amelia, Elizabeth, Kate, and Kylie.
Congratulations on being half way!! You look great!
Ooh, call her Hadley!
A really good friend of mine just had a baby girl and before Kialyn (which is beautiful) arrived Bethany announced that Creeka Holstein should be her name, I totally vota Creeka Holstein Brown!
I’m naming my girl Avery, but if she hadn’t showed up in dream when I was just 12 weeks along and INFORMED me that that was her name, I would be naming her Zinnia π
Piper and Spencer are two of my favourites. And Millie is adorable!
You look great!
Growing bum? i see NO bum. Must be the camera angle, i guess. Names i like: Aubrey, Avery, Ella, Emily, Sierra, Caroline, Mielle (me-ELLE), Grace, Susannah, Charlotte, Kaelen (KAY-lin), Sophia & Margaret
Some new babies I know have some nice names:
Charlotte (classic)
Teigan
Reagan (I loved this name but not my hubby)
Lily
Maeve
Bea (Beatrice)
Clara
Noelle
Georgia (this is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen!)
Or, you could name her Jennifer…she would have some great company!
I love the name Millie. Hmmmm, other ideas… Linden, Maren, Beatrix (Bea), Elise, Elodie, Moira, ….
i absolutely love the name audrey or louise or audrey louise…..
I don’t know if this works for you, but I love the name Irene!
I can’t use either but Will wasn’t going to be Tess or Sadie….oh I love those names! Lila is a good one too Ali…
I love the name Amelia…and you could use Millie as a nickname!
first of all, you look ridiculously cute.
also…my two favorite girl names are Aubrey and Lila. I won’t get to use them, sadly, since we are done done done.
I have a friend who has a daughter named Karenna. And another daughter named Mikella. So I thought I’d share, in case you are on par with her naming aesthetic.
I like Ainsley, Audrey, Maria, Natalie, and Leah.
Aurora, Caroline, Carolyn, Jasmine, Adaline
Girl names we didn’t get to use because we had a boy:
Flora
Valentina
Viola
Addianna
Penelope
Georgie
Sabine
Ophelia
Tula
Paloma
These were my top ten- my husband, he is a different story. He likes something a little plainer, but I like something memorable but not totally weird (and what woman doesn’t?). I think Sabine would make an excellent addition to Avelyn and Karenna!
I actually like Millie a lot and you look great!
You DO look like a glowing, beautiful, pregnant lady!
I think Lynnaea,( or Lynnea, or Linnea) is a beautiful name, and I’m sharing because I won’t be able to use it π
Also, Mallory, Eleanor or Elinora.
Good luck! I have been reading your blog for years (me. quintessential blog lurker) and read about the great name debates π
