Great idea for a running club!
I started running for fitness way back in grade 12 but was not really serious about it until my 30s. After my second son was born, I ran some 10ks and overheard my husband say he wanted to run a half marathon. I thought “I wish I could do that….and why don’t I do that?” all in the same moment. So I ran a few half-marathons and loved it.
I would always look at the full marathoners and think they were crazy UNTIL I was in the Running Room and one of the salespeople so matter of factly said “Why don’t you do that?”. It was a familiar voice, like the “Dave” guy from the DIY blog, this guy was the push I needed. I have run two marathons since then and will likely run more. I have tried to balance running with other things like boot camp and squash because 40 year old bones don’t like the wear and tear of training. I am very proud of my runs, especially my second marathon because by then I had four kids and the youngest was only 9 months old when I ran the marathon and I was still breastfeeding.
I know when I NEED to run. I get crabby and restless and don’t have as much patience with my kids. My best runs are at 6am because it is MY time and no one really needs me at that hour. I come home and I am so ready to be the best mom I can be…or at least I try a little harder.

I totally agree, Annabelle! It clears my head and helps me put things in perspective. Plus, it gets rid of some of my negative energy. You should be really proud of yourself. And it gives you something just for you.
