It’s a Britney Spears world, and we just live in it. Or, well, McKinley High’s Glee club lives in it. Will Schuester is, apparently, anti-Brit Brit and wants the club to go a more adult contemporary route. So, with the help of Uncle Jessie (Well, Emma’s dentist boyfriend Carl, played rather handsomely by the lovely, lovely John Stamos) and a little anesthesia, the Glee kids enter a Britney Spears dream-like state where they recreate the Princess of Pop’s huge hits, complete with red rubber outfits and snakes, and, you know, some cameos from the REAL Britney Spears.
We learn, for the first time, that Brittany’s full name is actually Brittany S. Pierce and her hallucinogenic visits allow her to really showcase her talents. As she says, “I’m more talented than all of you. I see that clearly now.”
This week’s episode was not really even an episode at all…there was very little in the way of a plot – – – I mean, sure, Finn is back on the football team and Rachel wants him to choose between her and football; and then she doesn’t; and then she sings adult contemporary songs about it while wearing a cardigan, and, well, Mr. Schue still loves Emma and is clearly jealous of Uncle Jesse (SAILING? REALLY?), and there was not enough Sue (“You wear more sweater vests than the cast of Blossom”) Sylvester.
I loved all the Britney…and even all of the Brittany.
But next week I hope she goes back to her one-liners and we can get back to our usual Glee.

This was, by far, my husband’s favourite episode. All that gyrating and panting…what’s not to love? 🙂

I was disappointed that Uncle Jesse didn’t sing any songs, but other than that, I think it was my favorite episode so far.
