From My Closet – May 24th, 2012

May 24, 2012 by Tracey

Nothing says “simple” like jeans and a t-shirt, but we don’t have to be all schlumpy about things (if we don’t want to) and it’s easy to perk things up with a some heels and a bit of bling.
I love the cut of this off-white burnout v-neck tee, which has a rounded hemline, and very short sleeves – this kind of cut helps show off the deltoids, so if you don’t work out much *ahem* this might make you appear as though you do. (But uch… who really cares about that anyway?) I do that little quarter-tuck because the t-shirt is a smidge long and billowy on my frame, and I don’t like looking larger than I am. Conversely, I sometimes look as though I have a pooch in front, but then I just think, Whatever, my BOOBS are up HERE! That’s what makes v-necks so excellent. I mean, besides elongating your neck, of course. (Heh.)
Skinny jeans in a dark wash always look more pulled together over the faded variety, but you can rock a faded, hole-y, ripped-knees kind of pair with the right shoes and accessories too. (Think boyfriend jeans, with ballet flats. Or really high heels.) I’m wearing a favourite pair of grey-blue sling-backs, and a belt with blue rhinestones. There’s a blue stone in the pendant I’m wearing on the chain around my neck. And that teal and brown paisley scarf on my silver bag? All just for colour and texture.
It’s always easy to put a spin on a classic… pull out your accessories and play!
v-neck burnout t-shirt – Forever 21, $15.80
skinny jeans – Garage, $35
rhinestone belt – Gap (ancient)
blue sling-backs – Pegabo (ancient)
silver beaded bracelet – Forever 21, almost free
silver snakeskin bag – Michael Kors, (gift)
paisley scarf – Winners, $12
sunglasses – Forever 21, $5

Sara. SARA!! Just GO and look around… in fact, have a look on their Canadian site and “pre-shop” just to see if you like anything. Its a massive selection (with lots of… um, well… WERE not 21, right?!) but I feel like you cant beat the basics in that place, and the costume jewellery alone is worth the trip. For realz. Nothing lasts forever anyway… might as well get the “for now” items for a song, if you can.
But thats just how I roll. I spend my monies on bags, shoes, and bras…
