From My Closet – May 10th, 2012

Okay, it’s been ages. I know. I haven’t really been shopping, and I think you’ve all seen just about everything I own. For realz.
And the winter months are just so tiresome… I’ve mostly been wearing slight variations of this outfit since January, I swear to god.
I did pick up this little top from the mostly-delicious Forever 21 recently. I wore this patterned cream-coloured blouse with a satin pencil skirt to that Alvin Ailey thing a few weeks back, and I will wear it again.
It’s May now, and the balmy weather hasn’t shown up reliably yet *shakes angry fist at sky* so I’m wearing tights with this short denim skirt – tall, flat boots keep the “tramp” factor low, I reckon, but short skirts are fiiiine with tights. Or leggings. No one can see any of your business, so just don’t worry about it. (I wouldn’t wear one this short without them though.) And just make sure your belt isn’t wider than the skirt is long. Now that’d be trampy, you know what I mean?
I like the simple gathered neckline and cuffs, but I’m tucking it, so you can’t see the ruffle at the hem. Adorable. And? Affordable. My favourites.
About the boots – I wanted to buy these in the late fall, but they were about $200, and I needed a better pair of winter boots more, so I spent that money on a reliable pair of not-so-cute Sorels instead. (Boo! Hiss!!) But THEN! This spring, I checked the clearance section of Aldo’s and saw my boots for about $100 less than the original price. Seeeeee? Sometimes patience really is a virtue… yay for me. I thought I’d get a few wears out of them before it got too hot, but as it turns out, I’ve worn them nearly every day since they arrived – the weather’s still been chilly and otherwise crap.
That said, dear sun, will you please come out and stay for a while?!
