Friday WTF – The Christmas Lobster??

December 3, 2010 by Sara

It’s been a loooooong time since I’ve pulled a Friday WTF.  Not because I’m not constantly overwhlemed at the number of them but I seem to have gotten wrapped up in the Thursday music bizz and really, I don’t need you all to be totally sick of me.

But here’s a quick one for you – since I’m running out the door to drive to ski country and do what you do there…drink wine by the fire.

Will got his December schedule for daycare this week.  As you can imagine, it’s chock full of holiday goodness.  They’re making gingerbread houses and snowflakes.  They’re having a ‘wear your christmas pajama day’.  I’m happy about all of it – now not only will he get his one nutritious meal of the day there, he can also be around people who actually LIKE Christmas.

Week three is Kwanza and Chaunukah week.  Interesting since a. Chaunukah is over by then and b. can’t they both have their own week?  Dilawi got a whole one.

But here are his activities that week…Monday is crazy hair day and Wednesday is making Chanukah popcorn day.  WTF????  Ummm…can someone explain the relation to me about these activities and those holidays???  You know what it reminded me of?  Love Actually when Emma Thompson kid is the Christmas lobster in the nativity scene…god I love that movie.

So any Kwanza and Chanukah experts out there?  Want to let me in on the secret as to what crazy hair and popcorn have to do with your special time of the year?????

In keeping with the theme of non-holiday holiday stuff….lets take a minute to enjoy my favourite Christmas song…Billy Mack…

Love Is All Around (Wet Wet Wet) was mine and Sean’s wedding song.
I would have thought you’d be more of a Fairytale-Of-New-York-by-the-Pogues kinda gal. Love that song.

I saw the title of your post and immediately thought to myself, “There was more than one lobster present at the birth of Jesus?”

Glad to hear that instead of getting rid of Christmas and doing nothing in solution
to our multicultural society, that they have now decided to celebrate everyone’s
holidays!!… Progress has been made!! Somebody once told me to get
on my surfboard during stressful times…Having a vision of that during
those times has helped ever since!! Good luck…

Um, drinking wine by the fire is the ONLY winter activity, as far as I’m concerned. I can apres-ski the hell out of any slope-side chalet, yo.
Love Actually. Yes. Sooooo freaking good!!
