(Because there IS a difference between denim-printed stretch fabric, and actual, ass-flattering jeans that fit with the stretch of leggings. This distinction is important.)
I have an embarrassingly large number of jeans, a number which is likely made even worse by the fact that due to my office dress code, and then my Sabbath (when I wear only skirts/dresses), basically, I get the chance to wear jeans…on Saturday evening, and Sunday. That’s…about it.
Nonetheless, I consider myself something of a denim aficionada, and have tried almost every brand under the sun in an unending quest for The Perfect Pair. I am a huge proponent of skinny jeans at the moment, and love how they look with pretty much everything, and easily transition from being paired with four-inch heels to being stuffed into a pair of unwieldy boots. (Go away, winter!)
All of this to say that I think I finally found the perfect pair.
I was in a J.Crew Outlet last month and spotted their legging jeans on a clearance rack for a little over $20. I had been tempted to go a size up, but the saleswoman swore up and down that they’d stretch after a few wearings, and I would be in heaven. She was right. I LOVE them. I love the dark rinse and the stretch, and the way they made my, um, usually nonexistent posterior look fantastic. I love how the length and cut actually work on my body. (I’m short — 5’2” — and usually need to hem my jeans which COMPLETELY RUINS THE SILHOUETTE, for me.) I love that they fit closely, but I can still breathe.
They’re on sale at the J.Crew online outlet now for $47.50; while that price is pretty good for jeans, in general, considering how cheap they were in the brick-and-mortar outlet, my advice would be to wait until J.Crew’s next (inevitable) 30% off sale, and snag a pair for yourself then. But DO be sure to keep an eye out, and try to snag a pair. They’re amazing!

Metalia,
I bought and ordered these online..they came yesterday and I love them!! I’ve been looking for skinny jeans I can wear with boots all winter, and these are the first pair that I like! They are a bit loose on the top, so I’m hoping they don’t stretch out too much, but I am super happy and I wanted to say thanks for the great recommendation!

Jeggings for the 40+ set? Not so much. I bought a pair for Miranda at H & M when I was in Toronto in August – and they even look WEIRD on her. She’s nearly 6. Go figure? *Disclaimer: Says SHE who wore those stirrup-type leggings in the 90’s. I also had the Shannon Doherty-shag aka 90210 hairstyle. I am still /really, REALLY sorry. LOL!

I always think that these were made for a specific body type. And it’s the one I had prior to my third baby. I don’t think I could pull these off with my new hips and thighs.
They do look awesome tho…

Ooh, I know this one! I know this one! (I have a pair of Always Skinny jeans, and the actual legging jeans, too.) In terms of a side-by-side comparison:
Gap wins out, fo sho, as it relates to selection, since these only come in the dark rinse, and the regular fit (no petite or tall options). That being said, I felt these fit my actual (short) body better, and had a touch more “give” than the Gap ones. I will email you a picture of the back pockets!

I am actually surprisingly impressed with the Gap legging jeans. And they are suuuuper cheap!
