This sits in my kitchen
Do good mothers also have baskets of laundry not put away, a sink full of dishes, driddle on the toilet seat (and on the floor), shoes strewn about the front door, unmade beds, a pile of fliers beside the couch and empty Tims Hortons coffee cups on every level of the house?
Just wondering…?

I am always the first to say, my house might be “tidy”, but it sure as heck ain’t “clean”. Tidy is about all I can manage with 2 young kids and a hubby who walks away from mess just like the 2 & 6 yr old. Just don’t try to eat off my floors lol

God, I hope so…
As I type, the dog is licking the coffee table clean. That’s cleaning, right?

Christine that certainly sounds like my house. My list of chores is endless and sometimes I have to throw my hands in the air and say ‘to hell with it’. Does it really matter if the beds aren’t made or that the dirty breakfast dishes stay in the sink all day? Whole really cares? These things don’t make us better mothers. Our children certainly don’t care if they get into a made bed at the end of the day.

I call that a “sign of life” and lots of it- wouldn’t have it any other way
Christine says
Totally making fun of myself Nancy – its all I have!!
Tracy, I can’t put my feet up at night until some order has been restored and the place has been picked up. But you can walk into my home anytime of any day and know that children live there!!
Tracey says
I live to be anti-pack rat… but balance is the key to everything. I loves me some tidy though… I can’t help it!!
Nancy says
ok- I just re read this post and I thought you were saying- hey slobs, get your act together , your kids can’t find their left shoe, clean underwear or last night’s homework
Now I see you may have been poking fun at yourself
sorry
I am a recovering pack rat with a pig pen side but delight in order
constant struggle- xoxoxo me
Nancy says
NO! I get the feeling your home is lovely and warm like you!
Christine says
Eeep! I suppose I have painted my home in a negative light, huh?
Nancy says
I am not sure about this. Living in a museum can suck the life and spontaneity out of everyone. Living in a disaster will surely do just the same. If you can’t find anything -life is miserable, you are late and disorganized not joyful I think.
There is a certain loveliness from everything having its place and the sun coming through the windows … because it can. I need order and a bit of prettiness but I also like a bit of chaos, way too many people around and a little bit of surprise.
Tracey says
Yes. And they’re all so much SANER than I am! “Dear Santa… please give me a break…”
