Five Little Words

July 20, 2010 by Christine

When Cuyler was almost 3 and still not talking I wasn’t sure I would ever hear his voice.

If he would ever call me “Mommy” .
If he would ever tell me he loves me.
Then he started talking and I was grateful to hear his voice.  He was saying single words.  Then putting words together.  Singing songs.  Humming.
It was music to my ears.
His speech has progressed and continues to.  And for that I am grateful.
But nothing prepared me for how I would feel when I told him I loved him – as I do several times a day – and he reciprocated.  I may have even gotten misty eyed…
He’s been doing it ever since.  And everytime I hear those five little words I feel the same way I did the first time he said it.
