In January, I blogged about how frustrated and discouraged I was with my inability to shed pregnancy weight and feel healthy again. It’s been 4 months since I made some big changes with regard to eating and exercise, and I’m happy to say that I’m seeing results. I’ve lost weight and inches. I feel lighter, happier, more fit and more confident.
I’ve still got a way to go, but I’m getting there step by step. After trying spinning and step classes, and other stuff, I soon realised that running is what works best for me. I try to run 3 times a week and do strength training a couple times as well if I can fit it in. The weather is better, so I’m walking to school with the kids and spending oodles of time at the park. I’m exhilarated by the spring freshness and feel the urge to be outside constantly!
Of course, there are setbacks (like bathing suit shopping: a purple two-piece at the Gap nearly sent me into a fit of public sobbing but I pulled myself together just in time). But, instead of letting myself be completely derailed, I’m trying to move forward and be positive. Some days are better than others, but at the end of the day, I’m eager to forge ahead in this quest of health and vitality.

Way to go!!
If you can, try running with the “running room”.
Each week they pick a new route (which makes it interesting)
and its also fun to run with a group.
I loved the experience and huffed and puffed till everyone was ahead of me!!

I took your success with running as one of many signs that I should give it a try. Today was only day 5, but I had to start somewhere and so far it is going well. Please know that you and your fellow bloggers are an inspiration to many of us 🙂

For one thing, what a beautiful picture! Your attitude is right on. I look forward to hearing more.

Amreen, that is so great…don’t let a bad bathing suit experience ruin it for you. Remember, you only wear a bathing suit 1% of the time – the other 99% you can feel great about yourself. You’re so right when you say “health and vitality” is the goal of the quest.

Way to go! You’re doing wonderfully!
And, I totally sympathise with the bathing suit episode. I need a new one this season and I’ve been out shopping a few times already, with disastrous results. Why is it that we can feel pretty good about how we’re looking but put us into a bathing suit in bad changeroom lighting and all hope is lost?!
Good luck with your continued quest for good health (that’s absolutely the right way to look at this journey) and I bet you look like a million bucks! Show off your success in those summer clothes at the park!
