Perhaps, like me, you’ve stuffed yourself throughout the month of December, starting with latkes in Hanukah solidarity celebrations, and ending with turkey and all the trimmings at Christmas. Throw in some cookies, chocolates, wine, cheese, more wine, appetizers, and a little champagne. Ugh. Perhaps you’ve now found yourself commiserating with fellow celebrants that jeans are the devil (right Ali?) and that you can’t fit into anything but yoga pants. And maybe, like me, you’ve got a workday looming and need to slip into something a little less couch-worthy.
I have no interest in taking advantage of the amazing Boxing Day sales out there to invest in a “fat wardrobe.” I am registered for a half-marathon in five short months and need to use my skinny jeans as incentive to put on my running shoes.
So, what to do?
I’ve rediscovered the pair of Reitmans Comfort Fit pants that I’d bought back in early December and forgotten all about when I slipped into yoga pants and leggings. When I tweeted last month that I was attending an event to see Reitmans Spring line, three women commented that they loved the Comfort Fit pants, so I knew I had to check them out.
It turns out there’s quite a collection of Reitmans Comfort Fit pants and skirts in denim, and a variety of other materials, in cuts from flare to skinny to bootcut. The common thread is that they all have a comfort waistband with no buttons, no zippers, no bulk. It means a more slimming silhouette.
These pants are priced right (always under $50 and right now on sale for as little as $19.99), easy to care for (throw them in the washer and choose to either dry flat or risk a little shrinkage in the dryer) and available in regular, tall, petite and plus sizes.
I’m pairing the Original Comfort Fit Career pants with everything from long tees to belted cardigans. They’re comfortable and flattering. I think they’re the perfect piece for my in-between wardrobe. Not in-between seasons, but in-between sizes!
Reitmans launched an online store last month, and this might be the perfect time to check it out!
In the interest of full disclosure, Trend Watch is written by me; all opinions are my own. It is not sponsored. Sometimes I am given free product to review and sometimes I purchase the products all on my own. These pants were partially subsidized by a gift card given to me by Reitmans, but I was not compensated for my review.
