It’s MOM. That’s me….MOM.
Yesterday, my little guy finally called me MOM. He’s 14 months old and I’ve been telling him my name from the moment he was born.
As soon as he started babbling, I would say, “Say ‘Momma'”. Nada.
Switched to “Say ‘Mommy'”. He would stick out his tongue and blow big ol’ raspberries.
Finally tried “Say ‘Mom'”. Crickets. Or more raspberries. Or sometimes a growl (?).
So, I stopped trying because it was just getting embarrassing.
And then, out of the blue, he looked at me and said… “MOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM”.
OH THE JOY!
Jumping, clapping, tearing up, smiling from ear to ear (me, that is). He liked the reaction, so he has continued saying it – mostly when he wants something or is mad at his dad for saying “no” to him, but still. I’ll take it.
I finally have a name:)
My son still calls me Dada. Sheesh.
Wow, he held out so long. I can’t imagine how awesome it must have been to hear him say mom for the first time!!!
Awesome! He’s adorable – looks just like you!
Yay! Finally, Mommy!!
