FFFFather’s Day. That’s No Typo.

Hallmark Holidays – they aren’t really holidays, but you’re in trouble if you don’t celebrate them. Mother’s Day requires the bouquet of flowers, breakfast in bed, cards, gifts, maybe a nice meal out. Valentine’s Day? Chocolates, more flowers and cards. But what about Father’s Day?

I know you all already know that a card is going to be a staple (thank you Hallmark) – but what else is going to make him feel dynamite on a day meant for Dad? Certainly not bon-bons, flowers and a nice day at the spa.

And thus I give you Chef Dad’s Four Effs of Father’s Day…
F1)  Family – Every Dad wants to spend Father’s Day with his family. We all live busy, over-scheduled lives. Having a day set aside where we can spend it with the ones we love is an awesome start. Whether it’s just your immediate family, or you invite the whole clan over for a big shindig.. Family should be a given.
F2)  Food – Make him breakfast, or grill him a giant steak. Buy him his favourite beer, or open a bottle of his favourite wine. We’re hunter gatherers – trust me on this one. He’ll appreciate it.
F3)  Free Time – Let him sleep in, or take a nap in his favourite chair, or have a day off from mowing the lawn, or sit on the dock watching the waves roll in. None of us carve out ‘me’ time as often as we should. Make him sit down and just chill.
F4)  Well I think I’ll stop there for now.. and let you use your own creativity for the rest.
