So, I’m sitting here eating an apple as I type. Why? Major, major case of guilt and self-deprecation, that’s why!
You see, last week I hosted a party for one of those home-based direct sales businesses – you remember the old Tupperware party, right? Well, it’s in the same vein, but mine was all about food, not just the storage thereof. Yup, I hosted an Epicure Party.
If you’ve never tried Epicure Selections before, they offer amazing spice mixes, rubs, dip mixes and more. They’re all really (dangerously) delicious, but made with all natural ingredients and no preservatives.
Sounds great so far, right? Well, yes and no. See, the spice mixes and rubs are great. Last summer, when I first began Weight Watchers, I needed to find ways to make the smaller portions of lower-fat food more flavourful, and these products came in very handy. But I was smart enough to stay away from the dips. Ohhhh…the dips!
Can I take a moment to tell you about the dips? There are no fewer than fifteen dip mixes to choose from, and that’s not including the fruit dips, salsas or bruschetta. Mmmm…Okay. And then they’re made with sour cream and mayonnaise. Gak! My arteries are cringing just thinking about it.
So, anyway. The Epicure salesperson brings samples of all the dips, including a very high-octane hot cheesy dip. My guests (all four of them!) sampled everything, but left lots of leftovers. And I’ve spent the last few days polishing them all off. So, not eating so well these days, unfortunately.
But the good news is that I’m still on with going to the gym, despite the insanity of the last week of school (and – thank GOD – the last week of 4 evenings/week soccer)! Unfortunately, I managed to finish off Harry Potter a little sooner than expected (thanks to a few late nights…a weakness of mine; sacrificing sleep for the sake of reading late) and I haven’t been out to the library since, so I’m stuck with the gossip mags to keep me company on the treadmill. But that’s okay, I can live with a little gossip once in a while on the treadmill, and I let go of all those pithy thoughts in my thrice-weekly yoga classes (tomorrow – yay!)
So, all is not entirely lost, but I am feeling a little – ahhh – dipped. I need to lay off the creaminess and get back into last summer’s mode – we used to eat over 12 pounds of apples in a week. Well, tomorrow, as they say, is another day…and time to turn over a new leaf.
