"You look so skinny! Do you feel great? Because you look great!"
That’s how one of my friends greeted me this morning at the schoolyard. It was a wonderful affimration of my hard work and success losing weight. It’s been 11 months now since I joined Weight Watchers, and I’ve got 55 pounds under my belt now…or rather, 55 lbs less under my belt.
Not bad, eh?
Ummm…yeah. The only problem is that I lost the first 50 lbs after about six months into this journey, and I’ve spent the last five hanging in there at my current 163 lbs (give or take a pound or two here and there). Have I reached my goal weight (155)? No. Have I achieved Weight Watchers coveted Lifetime Member status? No.
So? What’s holding me back? Well, see, the problem is, I kinda like myself like this. Check it out:
You know…I never shy away from tooting my own horn, so I’ll say it. I look good. But unfortunately, that’s just what’s been holding me back. I do want to lose that last eight pounds (in fact, I could still lose a good 38 more pounds and still be within my healthy weight range). And I also do want to become a lifetime member of Weight Watchers.
But I’ve discovered that I can maintain my weight at this level…easily. Happily. I know that losing that last 10 pounds (or so) will be hard work. And I guess I’m somewhat lazy…or complacent…or overly comfortable.
Whatever the reason, I need to light a fire under my (smaller) butt, and soon. I’m beginning to feel like a bit of an impostor – writing this weight loss blog and yet – not losing weight. Yes, I did lose weight. A lot of weight. And I haven’t done exactly badly in the intervening months. After all, I’ve managed to maintain my weight (and even slowly creep it downwards) and that’s nothing to sneeze at. But I’ve got to come out of the closet now, and own up to my stalemate.
So…has anyone out there been where I am now? Did you manage to get back in the groove again? How? Share your tips (and motivation!) in comments…please?

You look FAB!!! And, it’s awesome if you’ve found a weight you’re happy with AND that you can maintain easily. The only reason to lose more weight would be to have a few pounds to play around with. But, if you can maintain this weight, stick with it — especially since you look SO AMAZING. 🙂

Kath – you DO look great. you are one HOTT mama.
i am at a weight stand-still. i would love to lose another 5 pounds…but i don’t know how. those last ones are always the most stubborn.

You know I have, Kath! I could still probably lose another 10lbs comfortably but I am totally within a healthy range. However, the key for me to the last 15lbs was regular exercise. I go to the gym or run outside 3 times per week. I walk when driving would be faster and easier. This is another lifestyle change and it took me YEARS to really figure it out…and to enjoy it!
