Changes – Screen time & Exercise

April 17, 2012 by erinlittle

Well, it seems I’ve managed to reduce screen time without even trying.  I got sick.  It was a bad cold that really knocked me down and lasted a week.  Then I needed another week to recover.  As a result I was in bed between 8 & 9 every night.  Thus, less screen time.  I’ve set myself a rule now that I’m feeling better – no screen time between 5 & the girls’ bedtime.  That is all family time.

After I got sick it got warm and we got a trampoline.  Now I’m spending all my free time outside jumping with the girls.  I love it!  It is so much fun and it’s great exercise.  I am totally in the moment when I’m jumping with them.  Who knew?  The trampoline is another form of moving meditation and joy for me.  Like yoga is.
So that’s where I’m at.  My next step is to try to ride my bike to work.  I’m not committing to that yet, I’m just going to try it.  Thanks to Sara for inspiring me.
Now if only I could afford a private chef to make me “clean” meals – I’d be totally set.
If you have any super easy and fast “cleanish” recipes please send them my way.
Oh yeah – I’m actually meditating a few times a week in the morning and I’ve decided to add meditative walks in at lunch (I did it yesterday and it was amazing).  I walk and meditate at the same time, trying to keep a clear mind instead of letting the clutter take over.
I’m feeling pretty good.
Don’t worry – the net is up now.

Erin, if by “cleanish” recipes you mean vegetarian, no sugar, etc., I’ve liked the recipes I’ve found on this website: http://www.savvyvegetarian.com/vegetarian-recipes/simplest-guacamole.php
Not all of them are super-easy (I, too, would love staff for veggie-chopping!) but most of them are delicious.

Good for you, Erin! And I’m glad your cold is better… xox

That is SO funny, Erin! My first thought was, where is the net? 🙂
I am glad you are meeting your goals and feeling so good about it. What I am amazed at is that a woman in her 40s can jump on a trampoline without worry!

Awesome Erin! And it’s reverse inspiring here….while I was at Oprah yesterday – Deepak reminded me how important meditation is. I took a course in it when I broke my ankle a few years ago…and all my friends noticed the change in me. I’m going to start doing it at lunch…I work next to a beach for godsakes…it’s perfect.
