I don’t know about you but when I am shopping for a car I am far less concerned about acceleration and engine size than I am about the practical day-to-day functionality of a car in my busy life. There are certain things I need in a car in order to be able to make things run smoothly so that is how I decided to approach this test drive. I spent my time trying to focus on the real life components and how this car would fit in the life of a busy mom.
Model Tested: 2010 Cadillac SRX
Key Competitors: Lexus RX; Acura MDX; BWW X3 and X5
Price: $41,575 – $57,775
Urban Mom’s Topline: This car was a great mix of luxury and practicality. The SRX was smooth and quiet to drive and the huge sunroof was a big bonus. Both front and rear seats were comfortable with spacious leg room, a must for long drives and rapidly growing children. The rear storage system and the pop-up navigation system are both great features. With optional built in seat-back DVD players mom and kids travel peacefully.
There is no option for a 3rd row of seating as in the previous model which was a bit of a disappointment for me and makes carpooling more of a challenge. However, if this is not on your must-have list then I would highly recommend the Cadillac SRX for comfortable and luxurious family driving.
Important Features: 5-door, 5-passenger; front-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive; pop-up GPS Navigation System (optional); rear cargo management system; enhanced safety features.

Looks like a great vehicle for a road trip. The navigation system and built-in DVD players would make for an extremely smooth ride for Mom, Dad, and kids!

Wow, lucky you to get to review the SRX – it’s my ultimate dream ride. Too bad about no more 3rd row seat, though!

Looks like a great vehicle! Love the built-in DVD players…those are so great on long trips! But my top must-have in a vehicle? Heated seats!
