Bring on the Birkenstocks

May 6, 2010 by Amanda

Pregnancy is a full-body experience. Before I got knocked up the first time I naively thought that the only thing affected by pregnancy would be a growing abdomen. Oh, how little I knew!

It seems as though each pregnancy is tougher on a woman’s body and demands more of it. With this third baby I experienced intense all-day nausea in the first trimester and since then have moved on to taste the joys of disturbing constipation, blistering zits all over my chin and back, and, the latest development: plantar fasciitis.
My heels are killing me! I wish I could say I injured them while training for a marathon or something, but no, I do believe the astronomical weight gain is the nasty culprit. My feet just can’t take the extra bulk and now I have to pay the price by resigning myself to wearing fugly orthopedic shoes for the next four months.

Owell, there are worse pregnancy symptoms out there. I have friends who got really bad varicose veins. And not just on their legs, if you know what I’m sayin’.
Did you experience any weird or freaky pregnancy symptoms that caught you off-guard? Do tell!

luckily they had disappeared by my third day post partum.
it was pretty disgusting and totally caught me off guard becasue i didn’t have anything like that with the previous 2 pregnancies.
