Ok, I’ll admit it: I loved the Twilight books. When I first read them, I had a newborn and I lustily devoured them during nap times and between feeding (pun intended.) They were the perfect escape from sleepless nights, baby spew splattered sweats and endless diaper changes.
So, of course I was excited when I heard they were making the movies; until the casting of Kristen Stewart as Bella. To me, she was miscast from the start, so off the mark from the girl described in the books and the protagonist we loved.
Robert Pattinson, however, was a different story. But I digress…
The movies have been a bit uneven, but I have a tradition of watching the latest one while I sort my taxes each year. That tradition got thrown to the wind when I was invited to the Canadian premier of Breaking Dawn: Part 1, and asked to photograph the performers on the red carpet. And before you freak out, no Robert Pattinson & Taylor Lautner were not there. Canada was only deemed worthy enough for Ashley Green (Alice), Jackson Rathbone (Jasper) and Sarah Clarke (Bella’s mom).
Having already been to a sneak preview of another sequel earlier this week, I was leery, yet ready to submerge myself in a bit of Team Edward. The movie is pretty much exactly what you’d expect. While it never catches the magic of the books, it’s a bit of escapism and the boys really do have nice abs. And it only takes about 15 seconds into the movie before you see them.

I have already gone once, and want to go again. I used to laugh at the girls so aptly named Twihards, but now I have to guiltily admit I may just fall into that category *insert sheepish grin*

LOVED the books! LOVED. I’ve read them twice. The second time I read them was in La Push, Washington. Really.
I liked Twilight the movie, the next two, not so much. I’m looking forward to Breaking Dawn to see how they manage the special effects. And to see the baby girl.
I totally agree on the casting. Although, Bella is an annoying twerp in the books too, so maybe they were bang on.?
Great photos.
What’s this crap ass about Canada not being good enough for Robert?

So true Racheal, the movies don’t quite capture the magic of the books. I also question the casting for all of Edward’s siblings and adoptive parents. In the novels their physical beauty was key and separated them from the humans. The actors playing these characters did not live up to the description in the book. That said I still look forward to seeing the movie.

The median age… yes. I could have guessed. #hornyoldladies 😉

Oh please, we passed those books around the zombie moms like crack. I remember burning soup one night because I was so wrapped up in it!
And by the way, the median age at the premier was roughly 41. 😉

Oh, dude. I was all set to hit the theatre BY MYSELF last night, only to realize it was completely sold out. I mean, of course it was… I forgot how rabid those teenage girls can be. *ahem*
I still re-read the books from time to time… I know – I have no shame at all – but seriously? I can’t wait to see the next installation of this series. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the others. (NO shame, remember? Le sigh.)
Great photos, lady!!
