Have you noticed how many sixties and seventies inspired looks are in stores right now? Yes, tie-dye, embroidery, macrame, longer lengths and floaty fashions are everywhere.
The good news about Boho style is that it provides many cool, relaxed and feminie options for Spring and Summer. The challenge is to look hip, wihtout looking like a hippie wannanbe. Like most things in life, it’s all about moderation, balance and the occasion. One strong Bohemian piece should be worn with more simple, streamlined pieces. Take this tie-dye top from Esprit, for example. It’s beautifully balanced with slim white jeans.
BTW We’ve mentioned before that fuller tops are not often flattering on those with bigger busts. However, the Espirt option above, which is slighly cinched at the waist, will help avoid that back in maternity look that many looser styles leave.
Here’s an option from Banana republic that could even be worn to the office.
And, remember how Ali wore this natural cotton top with pants and a cardi to work in the urban closet.
Of course, the reverse option is to select a soft skirt and pair it with slimmed down tops. The options are endless from knee-length to midi to long. Petites can get overpowered by long looks, especially in strong patterns, but tall moms will look lovely in the longer length. Here’s a cute tie-dye shorter option from American Eagle, a knee length layered from Old Navy and long length from Esprit.
There are endless options of Bohemian look dresses in store right now. And, with their longer length, many Boho dresses make a much stronger salute to this style trend than the separates featured above, so buyer beware…
This look from Esprit is lovely on this model, but I can’t imagine hanging out in the school yard in it, can you? However, if you are lucky enough to have a tropical beach holiday or lots of summer soirees,
then its a gorgeous option.
This dress from The Gap would make more practical everyday option to the above.
And, don’t forget the Boho trend will not last, so unless you think you’ll be wearing it a lot this season, look for value options in stores such as Old Navy and American Eagle. This long and leaner look is from American Eagle.
From a touch of macrame on our T’s to full length and floaty dresses, there’s no doubt about it, Spring and Summer fashions in 2009 will be made beautiful by the Boho trend.

I was just shopping at H&M at Square One and they had these great cardigans buy one get one free. I picked up 4 for $50.
