the long t-shirt. the one that doesn’t even make skinny people look skinny. the one that everyone’s wearing with the long thigh-length lace cami underneath. the one i said i’d never wear because of my pot belly. the one that looks like a dress when you hold it up.
well…i’m now wearing it. (not this particular one above…but you get the idea…)
it looks like ass on me. erm…or should i say, it makes my ass look like ass. and makes me look about 5 months pregnant.
so..you ask, "ali, why are you wearing clothing that makes you look like a heifer?"
well, i’ll tell. it’s the only thing in the stores right now. i actually went to the mall in one of my t-shirts from last summer and i wanted to hide. i looked ridiculous. like i was from mars or something.
please pray for me and for everyone who doesn’t have a stomach like Mischa Barton that this fad will be short lived. please. either that or that spanx comes out with a band that goes around your belly to suck in the stomach. (hmmm…perhaps i should invent one. i can name you about 100 people who would kill for one)
yeah – i can see how long shirts work in tall women’s favor!
I have a slightly different perspective. Not that I don’t share the pooch/paunch/pouch of squish just below the waist line but being nearly 6′ tall I am SO glad to see long shirts back. Not matter what I did in previous years I was resigned to the belly top. At least now it just shows through my shirt but it is not exposed for everyone to see!
Ugh. I came out of my last mall experience near to tears. The current fashions make me feel -old-. And I’m only 28!
Ali, I’m with you on this one. The other problem I find is that it’s all 14yo girls who are wearing these long shirts layered with lacy camis…I’m afraid I’d look like a cougar in them even if I had the abs to carry it off. But what else to wear? Granny’s tropical short-sleeved blouse from Tabi?
Argh.
