This weekend, we went to a particularly fun party at the Birchmount Pool, in Scarborough Ontario.
After fun and frolic in the water, the bevy of adorable, wet-pig-tailed girls made their way to the party room for games, snacks and cake. The Barbie theme was fun and apparent with Barbie wall art (done prior to party by the attendees) on the walls, a Barbie game (pin the Bling on Barbie!), and Barbie tatoos .The Girl chose to get hers on the face ??!!, and wore it proudly to school this morning!
A.’s mum, Astrid, is creative, fun and a great hostess! Her little flourishes made the event so special: Pink Princess Popcorn, Pretzels dipped in pink chocolate with purple sprinkles, a home-made beach cake replete with ice-cream-cone parasols and the list goes on. Astrid has a fabulous blog at Chatelaine where she writes avidly about the Happiness Plan – you can check out her blog here!
The fun beach Barbie theme continued at home when we found delicate shells and a lei in the Girl’s loot bag! She had a blast and enjoyed every special moment with her girlfriends.Astrid sent me this link to the pink popcorn recipe and here’s her recipe for the yummy pretzels (see pic above!) Take regular Rold Gold pretzels. Dip them into melted coloured chocolate wafers (Bulk Barn has an array of colours). Lay them on a wax-paper-covered cookie sheet or on a Silpat mat on a cookie tray. Before they dry, sprinkle sprinkles on them, and chill in the fridge till they are hard.

Awesome ideas for Barbie theme party food. Thanks Amreen. Can’t wait to make my own chocolate coated pretzels!
