One would think I could handle this but I am seriously at my point of exploding!
Having had six children prior to the adorable twins Thatcher and Tanner I thought I had experienced it all – special needs, giftedness, medications, sibling rivalry, non sleepers, night wakers – oh yeah nothing was getting past me now. Um well, except these little dudes!
Don’t let their cuteness fool you!
They climbed out of their cribs awhile ago and then nothing – they listened to me when I told them it was nap time or bed time, stayed in their cribs and went to sleep.
Christmas eve came and changed it all.
Christmas eve came and changed it all.
Instead of going to sleep when I turn off the lights, its as though a special lightbulb goes on in their head and wham! Party time. They climb out of their cribs and start getting into everything and anything and causing all sorts of mayhem. I had to keep running up and putting them back in their cribs and sternly telling them “No! It’s time to go night night.” But really – they didn’t give a crap about what I said.
I then put a gate up in the hallway so they couldn’t go far but then they just knocked that down! (amazing what two little dudes can do together when they plan it!) A gate then went up in the bedroom door but they can knock it down and climb over it so it isn’t much help either.
I am exhausted, and so are they because they are no longer napping and not going to sleep at their regular time. I may have been able to handle this better if it was only one toddler running wild, but with two – it’s crazy and making my head spin!
The other issue that isn’t helping is that right now they are in my bedroom – yes I have two cribs in my room and really haven’t given much thought as to where they are going to go yet because I thought they would still be sleeping in their cribs nicely – ha! How silly of me!
Obvioulsy until I can figure out the bedroom situation I have to deal with this, but if anyone has any suggestions for the time being please shoot them my way!
Until next time,

I have twins and unfortunately your head will be spinning for a few more years. It maybe time for big kid beds. My husband and I would each take a twin and lay with them in their bed until they fell asleep. Just for the adjustment period. It takes a couple of months, but they get used to it. I know you have other kids, as I do, so it’s challenging. Once you get the babies sleeping, you can deal with the rest of the chaos!

I had one who didn’t want to stay in his room either. We made sure there was nothing he could really damage in the room and put a child safety cover over the door knob INSIDE the room. It took him a year to be able to use it himself, but any older child or adult can use them, and anyone can open the door from the outside.
