Last week, my Husband and I went to NYC to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary (See photo at left!). It was a little nerve-wracking to leave the kids, but it was exciting and exhilarating at the same time!
So much of our day-to-day communication revolves around the kids, and the logistics of running a house and family together. I’m sure you know how it is: “Did you take out the garbage?” “Did the kids eat lunch?” “What do you mean I was supposed to pack the hockey bag?” And the list goes on.
It was so refreshing to have some down time together to walk around, talk, and just spend time together quietly in a beautiful, vibrant setting.
I hadn’t visited Manhattan in seven years, and as it always does, the city swept me off my feet. The city’s energy is invigorating and contagious; I found myself with the ability to walk and walk for hours, hyptonized by the sights and sounds around me. To my surprise, there were kids everywhere, and people were so friendly. During our first meal there, we sat on a patio and began easily chatting with the strangers around us.
We stayed at the W Hotel in Union Square, and it was amazing. The boutique-style ambience was funky and sleek, and the service was impeccable. Here’s my Husband in our room! I’ll post a detailed food and shopping diary in a couple of days!

Sounds amazing, it would be wonderful to get away like that to just any old place, but wow, you had a great destination! Glad you had the chance to do something wonderful like this together!
