Our family does not eat out much, but every once in awhile we treat our kids to McDonald’s. But I’m starting to think that McDonald’s has something against my family. It doesn’t matter which site we visit, it always seems that either my husband or myself has to run back because they forgot something, whether it was an extra toy, french fries, or even a burger. And it does not matter whether or not we go inside to order or use the drive- thru, we are constantly going back. So when we get back to eat, our meal is cold. So from now on I’ll be making my own hamburgers and fries. We have a deep fryer, and I know how to use it. Plus if the kids want a treat we’ll take them to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard, or Orange Julius for smoothies.

Hi Laura,
That sounds REALLY suspicious. You definitely need to talk to a Manager, as either the till is set up incorrectly or there could be some investigating to do at that McDonald’s.
I have contacted my contacts at McDonald’s about this and if you do not want to talk to the Manager, they can do it for you. If you would rather that they checked into it, could you please supply the location of the McDonald’s in question and they can follow up and get back to you on this matter.
Sorry that just sounds really sketchy Laura. I would so be suspicious!

My problem with McDs is that I think they overcharge. For example, I buy a meal that is on the menu as $3.99. They tell me the total is $4.34. Well, our tax here in Alberta is only 5% so that meal should only be $4.19. I mention it to the cashier and they have no idea. They say it’s tax, and I say no, it’s too much. The receipt does not say $3.99 for a meal, they have all the pieces of the meal itemized with funny amounts. The Happy Meal prices are not listed at our MacDonalds, and I swear they change the price every time I order. When I ask how much the Happy Meal is, the cashier doesn’t know…again the receipt has each item listed separately with some seemingly random price beside it. This has happened so many times it makes me wonder how much extra money these franchisees are making off each consumer?

I never leave the cash without checking every bag, every tray etc. That way you always get what you want….. Long Live McDs!!

I am so sorry to hear that you have had such bad experiences at your McDonald’s restaurants. I too would be so frustrated and scared to return to that restaurant, just in case they messed up again, which would make your dining experience oh so stressful.
Have you ever contacted the Manager of the McDonald’s restaurants in question? I know that I have and they have been very happy to resolve the issues and have even given us our next meal for free.
I know our Toronto McMom Ali had an awful experience and resolved it after contacting the Manager. They were very happy that she told them what had happened, because now they can resolve it so that no one else has to experience it again. I know that it is very important to them when they have feedback, especially about a bad experience. That way they can fix the problem.

This has happened to me a few times but, overall, the service at McDonald’s has been good. I have found this more often at drive thrus and it is not specific to McD’s but any fast food. That is frustrating because often you don’t even notice until you are home!

I can’t say that I’ve experienced this problem at McDonald’s. We’ve had great service. McDonald’s staff has even brought items directly to our table when they are taking a few extra minutes to prepare. That said, I can still relate to your frustrating experience.
Just last night I regretted going out for dinner. We thought it would be easier to go out, than to prepare the dinner ourselves, boy were we wrong! It took 20 minutes for our waitress to take our order, and our food came after an eternity. So instead of enjoying a relaxing dinner out, we stressed the whole night about being served and waiting for our meal. Going out can sometimes be great and other times somewhat frustrating.
