Isabella turns two next week.
i know, you’re dying, right?! my baby will be two entire years old.
she’s already a terrible two, though. she can be an absolute beast. i leave her alone for 30 seconds and she’s unplugged the computer, eaten two beads, dropped a hairbrush into the toilet, and colored with a sharpie on my white down comforter.
she has tantrums. many, many tantrums. too many to count. because she wants to sleep. because she doesn’t want to sleep. because she wants macaroni and cheese. because she doesn’t want macaroni and cheese. you name it, she’s fussed about it. she’s dropped on the floor of wonderland, parking lots, grocery stores, malls, friends’ houses, sidewalk (choose your own adventure) and slammed her body, her arms and her legs against the ground. and cried. and carried on. it’s fun, i tell you.
some days i really can’t wait for this stage to be over.
but then some days, like yesterday, when she turns to me, while eating her macaroni and cheese, looks me straight in the eye, puts her fork down and says,
"mommy, wanna kiss me?"
and leans over for a kiss. gets one. and goes back to eating her dinner.
it’s moments like that i hope she stays two forever.

Two, I love this age. Yeah, it can be totally frustrating and the Diva attitude can be trying, but we often catch ourselves saying that we wish she could stay this age 4-ever. I’m not really looking forward to the big 3 at the end of the year; baby’s growing up ‘sob’.

My oldest, now 3.5 has been very ummm…determined for 2 years now. Lately he’s doing this high pitched screaming “NOOOOOOO” when he doesn’t want to do something – very pleasant when we’re in the mall or grocery store. And what’s with the people who almost glare at you while it’s happening?! Do you think I train my son to do this?! I do the whole ignoring thing, he’ll still continue.
On the other hand, you’re right, when he says out of the blue “I love you mommy”, I just want him to stay little forever.

Awww… so cute. Isabella and my Macy would get along famously, I think. I always blame it on her being “the third”, so seeking some extra attention, but the truth is, she’s just feisty, which I kind of admire.
