A Show, A Song, A Memory

May 6, 2012 by amreen

hbo girls.jpgI’ve been watching the new HBO show, Girls.  Three episodes in and it’s just starting to find its groove.  It’s a little dirty, a little jarring, a bit much. I still don’t know if I love it.  I like the premise though – four friends trying to find their way post-graduation.

Last week’s show had some moments.  Especially the last part of the show, where Hannah and her roommate dance in her room to this song.  That scene reminded me so much of my old apartment, my old roommates – coming home and telling each other everything. Listening to great music late at night.  Snackwell cookies and sharing packets of sushi from the convenience store downstairs.

Loved this song from the show (awesome soundtrack so far).  Love those memories even more.

I agree – she is brilliant. the writing is so good, and she is so natural. that job interview just killed me.

Amreen! I am a week behind ad just got to last weeks episode last night and loved the song! Thank you so much for posting it!!
I have this weeks episode to watch tonight – can’t wait!
I am in awe of Lena Dunham in that she writes and executive produces the show and she is only 25.

i know what you mean. kind of made me want to lock up my daughters and school them at home. don’t know if i’m ready to send them out into that world.
that song is so random – it’s a cheesy dance song by Robyn from 2010…it was just part of a scene in the show that I found quite evocative.

they are totally spoiled and ridiculous! that’s kind of what fascinates me. also, because i always wanted to live in nyc during my 20-something years. seems so bohemian and fun, but i’m sure the reality is a bit different

Yeah, “loser” is always what I think when I think of you, Sara… *snort*

I’ve only seen the pilot…and I both loved and it and it made me uncomfortable. And okay – I’m a loser but I don’t know this song…:)

I think I’ve only seen one and a half episodes, but I think I dig it. They’re completely spoiled and ridiculous girls – I can’t exactly relate – but it’s fun… I look forward to watching more!!
