I tend to go to Starbucks more for its location than for any other reason. It is pretty much on my way to anywhere. I don’t drink coffee, I don’t do well with caffeine and I don’t have much of a sweet tooth — a chocolate tooth for sure — but not a sugary sweet tooth. So, there’s not much for me at Starbucks. I go in regularly with the thought of trying something new but 9/10 times I leave with a Grande Refresh.
I love the Chai Latte but for some reason, it is one of the only syrups that Starbucks does not have in sugar free. There’s a campaign that needs to be waged there, but I’ll save that for the new year.
Anyway, this is all back story for the invention of the Brooks Bread Latte. It is very similar to the seasonal Gingerbread Latte, with two major changes, sugar-free syrup and no coffee.
I ordered it with Soy Milk for a little kick of protein.
In the end it is a steaming cup of hot milk with gingerbread flavouring and latte cream on the top.
Try it! I believe it may even be better for the kids than hot chocolate.
It is very yummy! and maybe even a little bit healthy (!?!)

I’m with you! Sugar free Chai lattes would be such a great thing… but not for my wallet. It’s bad enough that I’ve discovered I can get a sugar-free, non-fat, no whip Cinnamon Deluce Latte… my car seems to be driving itself to Starbucks these days. When my family wonders where the stocking stuffers are this year I’ll have to admit I drank them…

that sounds yummy, I’ll have to check it out as I’m trying to avoid the caffeine right now too. Lately, I also always get the Grande Refresh – it’s yummy and quite refreshing. sometimes i horrify the starbucks staff by asking for – GASP! – a mug of hot water!
