tell me this is a joke. please.
just because Sex and the City went ahead and made a movie version of their TV show…doesn’t mean everyone needs to jump on that bad idea bandwagon (although i am THRILLED that Arrested Development is coming out with a movie)
According to Daily Mail:
"The highly anticipated film production of TV series Friends has finally been given the go-ahead, MailOnline has learned.
Cast
members Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc,
Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer will reprise their roles for a
big-screen adaptation ‘within the next 18 months’, according to
insiders.
The actors have been inspired by the recent success of Sex And The City, which recently hit cinemas worldwide."
here’s a good rule of thumb…according to Ali…if a show ended because it was done, meaning that the story has been told (Friends), it’s a good time to stop. if a show ended because of something else, say, network assholery (Arrested Development) or circumstance (My So Called Life), movie versions would be allowed.
what do you think? interested in a Friends movie?
or think the show is DONE done done. leave it alone. stop giving those people more money!
is there a show that ended too early that you’d love to see a movie version of?

I still watch Friends reruns every day, but I don’t see any reason for them to make a movie. Although I would probably rent it if they do make one. I really thought the idea of a SATC movie was dumb and have absolutely no desire to see that one.
Celebrity Gossip says
Friends was a pretty good TV show, but I hope this TV-to-cinema trend is not going to balloon any further than it already seems to be.
These actors, studios, etc. are after nothing more than a payday vs. trying to make a quality product they can be proud of.

I loved Friends, until the whole Ross gets divorced 3 times, Rachel has his baby but doesn’t marry him stuff. I guess the last season or 2. I’d probably still see the movie, but definitely a rental.
Arrested Development though, that show was BRILLIANT and I’d love to see a movie version.
Another show I thought ended too soon was ROME. Would love to see a movie version of that – although the whole damn series is more like movies than TV – very grand!
Jen says
Meh…not sure. I might see it just out of curiosity.
Mari says
Noooooo….
I’m sorry, I wasn’t part of the FRIENDS craze.
