Sorry for the delay in posting. My Husband has been away for work and got home only last night. It’s been nuts, and my time on the computer has been limited to a few tweets here and there.
My birthday was a few weeks ago. I wasn’t feeling great about it. I always miss my mum around my birthday, and to be honest, I’m not thrilled about the whole aging thing. I know I should embrace my laugh lines, blah, blah, blah. But I really just want to be 21 forever.
However, despite all the melancholy, it actually ended up being a fun week.
On the day, I woke up bright and early at 6am and went for a 4 K run in my neighbourhood. This may not sound like a big deal, but it was for me. 1. I am not a morning person. And 2. See below.
Last year, around this time, I did a running clinic at Energia Athletics on the Danforth. It was a beginner Learn to Run clinic, and I was very discouraged. The very first day, I could only run 3 blocks and was out of breath and wiped. By the end of the clinic, I could run for 25 minutes at a slow pace.
I stuck with it for the year, running at least one to three times a week. Perseverance has paid off, and I can now go for an easy 35 minute run without feeling too badly afterwards. I’m still slow, but my pace has picked up and more important, I don’t feel so completely out of shape.
Other birthday highlights included a Swedish massage at the Stillwater Spa at the Park Hyatt(the most relaxing space I know of in Toronto), and a fun night out to eat Indian food (The Host on Princer Arthur – yumm!) and see Hot Tub Time Machine (it was awesome and totally ’80s)!

Hey, happy birthday!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who is lacking on the blogging front these days! When did things get so busy?!
Sounds like you had a great birthday week. Lots of fantastic things to pamper yourself, to laugh and to get energized. Congrats on doing so well with the running! And I guess I should see Hot Tub Time Machine because that sounds right up my alley (fun & 80s!).
Hope the year ahead is brilliant! (I mean, you’re only 29, right?) 😉
