CLYBOURNE PARK takes place in a suburban Chicago neighbourhood in the 1950s and continues through two generations with a window view of the changing social landscape. It’s a satirical look at demographics, history, home and heart with a modern twist on race, class, property ownership and community. The play takes you back to episodes of Archie Bunker sitting in his big daddy chair with the same sense of offensive humour.
The play is split in two scenarios and delivers a sharp and entertaining comedy. First being the average white family post-war times. The second reveals a turn around of events but flashes forward in a more contemporary setting. In each scenario, the setting takes place in the same desirable community and the intriguing look at reasons for preservation. Both equally thought provoking leaving you thinking who’s really offending who.
Each character is equally as strong played out by the original cast members: Audrey Dwyer, Michael Healey, Sterling Jarvis, Jeff Lillico, Mark McGrinder, Kimwun Perehinec and Maria Ricossa.
CLYBOURNE PARK is the winner of the Tony, Olivier, Evening Standard and the Pulitzer Prize awards and is the third offering in the exciting Off-Mirvish series. There are opportunities to attend ‘Talkback’ sessions after the show: Wednesdays (Feb 20 & 27 after the 1:30 pm matinee), and Thursdays (Feb 21 &28 after the 8:00 pm show). This is a rare opportunity to get an insiders POV directly from the cast members working on CLYBOURNE PARK.
