My husband and I make travel a priority for our family. In fact, it was the only thing either of us wanted for Christmas this year – time away together. Regardless of the destination or the duration we find family travel a way to relax, regroup and reconnect. Sometimes it is the only way to escape the hustle and bustle of our regular lives and reenergize. We are very lucky because sometimes we get the opportunity to travel as part of a program or review for UrbanMoms and check out places we would not otherwise see.

Family travel is important to us because, not only do we get time to relax, but we also create memories and share experiences together. We have been skiing, tubing (on snow and water!) and zip-lining. We have plunged into underwater caves and climbed Mayan ruins. We have been snorkelling and paddle boarding and sea kayaking and sailing. We have explored locally and in far away places. We have cruised, and road tripped and flown. We have ventured to Paris and London and played at a cottage just a few hours from home. All of these experiences have offered us time together and memories to last a lifetime.
This year we are starting 2013 off with a week at Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana through Transat Holidays. We LOVE Transat Holidays. As I have said before, the whole “one stop shop” makes planning easy. The last thing you want to worry about when planning a relaxing vacation is planning the vacation!
Some of my favourite memories of us as a family have been while “away”. Laid back, no distractions and experiences only we share.
The other thing we love about Transat Holidays is the Air Transat Kid’s Club. If you have a child or children between 2 – 11 years-old you MUST consider this when planning your next vacation! If for no other reason than sanity at the airport. There is a special Kid’s Club check-in where you get priority (yes! front of the line!) service and, just like traveling First Class, your bags get priority too so there is no waiting for luggage on the other end. D.R.E.A.M.Y.
As my kids get older and my youngest is about to hit the milestone double-digits birthday while we are away, I value these times more and more. I know that I am going to look back and be so thankful we had them. Some of my favourite memories of us as a family have been while “away”. Laid back, no distractions and experiences only we share.
Whether a weekend getaway at a local family resort, a beach vacation or a day trip skiing, make time to escape the routine of the day-to-day and enjoy something different together as a family!
Where would your dream family vacation be?
My family last year at Xel Ha in Mexico.
