Hello From Beaches Turks and Caicos!

April 24, 2009 by Jen

Ahhhhh. Can I tell you how relaxed I am right now? This place is awesome! The service is spectacular and the facilities are amazing. What has really floored me is how well thought out everything is. Every single detail from the towel waiting on the treadmill to the energy efficient rooms to the children’s programming. Usually you go to a “family” resort and either everything is focused on the kids and the adults are left with few options or the kids programs are so lacking that they are bored.

Not so at Beaches Turks and Caicos. My 6-year-old daughter did not want to leave the kids program yesterday! She had made friends, gone on a boat ride (where they each got a chance to drive) and played in the unbelievable waterpark. I could barely drag her out of there. Then today there is a pirate theme with a treasure hunt, face painting, and more waterpark fun. She couldn’t wait to get there!

Beaches Turks and Caicos beachAnd me? I relished my alone time. I had a tour of the expansive property and spent some time relaxing at the beach reading my most recent obsession, Twilight (I will always be 15 at heart). This was just what I needed. Then my girl and I saw some shows, swam in the pool, joined some folks for dinner and crashed in our comfortable, luxurious room.

I found out some of the reasons why this resort has got it right and I’ll post about it a little later. Cool story!

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
