Glamping, Camping and a Contest!

July 11, 2013 by Sonya 313 Comments

What did you say? Camping? I had no interest AT ALL until a friend of mine said “you’re so fricken’ high maintenance, but I bet you would LOVE  Glamping.”

Hmmm….It’s a possibility. I must admit that I’ve been thinking about it. I just need to find the time and figure out where to do this (if you have any recommendations, feel free to leave them in the comment section). I went searching on online to get some ideas and okay, I’m intrigued. The idea of sleeping under the stars in a beautiful destination is totally up my alley.

But what’s the difference between camping and  glamping?

According to the website glamping.com it’s a global trend that offers outdoor enthusiasts an upgrade on rest and recreation. It’s easily defined as glamorous camping. Sure you can visit destinations that are already set up and you can show up.  Like this…

I could totally do this! Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, Tofino, British Columbia

I could totally do this! Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, Tofino, British Columbia

But I can just hear my hubby laughing SO HARD.  There will be some “meet me in the middle” thinking on this whole idea to convince me to get outdoors into the great open country of ours. I definitely would want some items that would make camping an even better experience!

Which brings me to this…A CONTEST!

Summer is finally here! What better time to take a break from the screen and get some fresh air? Thanks to advances in camping technology, many of the stresses associated with camping are eliminated – tents can be set up in minutes, coolers are lighter and more efficient than ever before, and many other innovations allow you to take the comforts of home to the campground. And with hundreds of campgrounds across the country – many within a few hours’ drive – camping is a fun and affordable way to make the most of the summer.

ENTER for a chance to kick the season off right with a GO CAMPING PRIZE PACK courtesy of Canadian Tire (valued at $300). Prize includes a Coleman 60 qt Wheeled Cooler, Broadstone Camp Couch, Cadac Safari Chef Stove, and a Coleman Microburst Lantern!

All you have to do is give us your vote… GLAMPING OR CAMPING in the comment section below! GOOD LUCK!

One lucky entrant will selected at random to win the prize!

Contest closes Friday, July 19, 2013

Click here for Contest Rules and Regulations

BTW…I love this chart to determine what kind of Camper you are…can you guess what I am? haha!

I’m camping. The best campsites at the Provincial Parks are usually the non-hydro waterfront sites suitable for tents. I love waking up early and taking twenty steps to the beach for a morning swim. I have a luxury Exped self-inflating air mattress with down fill, sleeping on the ground is no problem.

I’m a blend of glamper and camper. I don’t mind sleeping in a tent BUT there must must must be real toilets and running water 🙂

Although I’d love to *try* glamping as a different vacation, it’s not the same as camping! Camping!!! In the majestic BC mountains, at a secluded lake with the mournful sound of loons echoing from the the peaks, the sky creamy with stars… NOTHING is better!

Love Sonya’s blog – I went there because of the contests, but it is a fun blog with lots of interesting items. As for camping vs glamping, I think glamping is DEFINITELY the way to go 😀 Have fun everyone, and good luck!

Camping…..the more remote the better. Love cooking on an open fire and sleeping under the stars. Although I prefer not to get up close and personal with the wildlife!

Camping…the more dirt, the better. Though my arm would not have to be twisted to spend a night in the tofino glampsite above….I think I’d prefer to do so without kids (wink, wink)

As much as I love the great outdoors, there’s just something about a nice comfy bed and a/c that make glamping my preference!

Hmmm, I would think glamping. I have difficulty sleeping on the ground due to back problems but would love to still be able to camp. This sounds like a good solution for my problems.

Definitely glamping. My husband is the die hard out in the wilderness, survival mode! Me, i enjoy a firm mattress and air conditioning. I live in the country already, i get enough bugs.

All for camping -actually canoe tripping! Anything we can pack in our canoe & paddle out to a quiet site where we don’t see anyone but our family for a few days. It may not be luxurious but it is so peaceful and beautiful!
